Cremonese Mostarda is a typical product traditionally prepared between the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. Mostarda is composed of seasonal candied fruit immersed in glucose syrup and flavoured with mustard. The types of fruit used in the preparation can be pumpkin, watermelon, figs, apples, pears, cherries, apricots, peaches and so on. Originally in the past, must (mosto in Italian) was used instead of syrup and that’s where Mostarda got its name from. Mostarda perfectly matches with meat, like Cremonese boiled meat, cold cuts and cheese.
